In December 2017, in anticipation of the “Year of support of active entrepreneurship, innovative ideas and technologies”, the MICROMINE team in Uzbekistan has held several seminars for specialists from the department of Geological and Economic Assessment of Solid Minerals of the State geological Information Center of the The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Geology and Mineral Resources. The seminars were mainly focused on the modelling and resource estimation of solid minerals. Within the seminar the team examined the fundamental aspects of mineral resource estimation with the application of block modelling, using the example of an educational project that looks at the vein type of a gold ore deposit. Special attention was paid to an algorithm that was used in the allocation of grade compositing by GKZ whilst using Micromine. Traditional (manual) methods of resource estimation were used to compare the results to those of the block modelling module in Micromine. Basics of the variogram analysis and interpolation methods, “kriging” and “”inverse distance weighting” were covered separately. According to the specialists of the State geological information center, they gained useful knowledge at the seminar and it has already found practical application, when performing block modelling and resource estimation of solid minerals for the pre-feasibility study on prospecting standards. Results of resource estimation in Micromine have been considered and accepted at the meetings of the State commission on Mineral Resources under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
